Prepare and File Your Own Tax Return

Welcome to Facilitated Self-Assistance (FSA)

where YOU prepare and e-file your own federal and state tax returns

on TaxAide-provided computers and software -- all for free

Requirements

You must have basic computer skills (or a trusted friend to input data for you)

You must have an email address

You must have the ability to receive text messages

Your income must not exceed $84,000

• TaxAide IRS-certified tax counselors will be available to answer questions on many (but not all) tax topics, but they will not type in the data for you.

• You can finish your return at home on your own computer, if desired.

• You can print from our printer or print your return at home.

• You will be responsible for the completeness and accuracy of your return.

  • We will ask you to sign a liability waiver before you can access the software on our computer.

• You will have online access to your return until October, 2025.

This new service will be available at two locations in Northern Virginia in 2025
