Free Tax Assistance – 2024 Tax Returns

Welcome to Manassas Bull Run Tax Aide, located at the Bull Run Regional Library. We will be open from Feb 3 to April 14 (including President’s Day and Easter Monday) during the following hours:

• Mondays from 10 am - 4:30 pm

• Wednesdays from 10 am – 4:30 pm 

• Saturdays from 10 am – 3:30 pm

Taxpayers are seen on a walk-in basis, first-come, first-serve. This year we will have a limited number of appointments available each day. You can only schedule an appointment by walking in to speak with us in our Tax Aide workspace. Appointments cannot be made online, by phone, or with the library staff.

Please review What We Can and Cannot Do to be sure we can prepare your return.

Checklist of things to bring with you:

• Proof of identification (photo ID) – Primary taxpayer & spouse

• Social Security cards for you, your spouse, and dependents

OR Last year’s return prepared by AARP or VITA 

OR Any correspondence from Social Security with only the last four digits of SSN

OR ITINs with an IRS issued letter or card

• Birth dates for you, your spouse and dependents

• If you have an Identity Protection PIN, bring IRS letter from 2023

• Wages and earnings, pensions or other retirement income statements (Forms W-2, W-2G,1099-R, 1099-Misc, 1099-NEC, 1099-K, 1099-G, K-1, SSA-1099) from all employers and payers

• Interest and dividend statements (Forms 1099-INT and 1099-DIV)

• Consolidated 1099 document from brokerage accounts 

• If applicable, mortgage statement (Form 1098), evidence of real estate tax and personal property tax payments, list of medical expenses, list of charitable contributions

• Self Employed Drivers/Delivery People bring business, commuter, personal miles driven

• Total paid to a daycare provider and the provider’s EIN or SSN

• Affordable Health Care Statement Form 1095-A

• Education expenses on 1098-T and amount paid for required books and supplies

• Student loan interest paid on 1098-E

• Last year’s tax return 2023

• A blank check with VOID written on the face to be used for direct deposit of your refund or to pay for taxes owed.
